HDC - HardGoods Development Center Administrator

This job is a full time, in-house position with the NHS Skate Hard Goods department reporting to the Hard Goods Purchasing and Development Manager. Must live near or be willing to relocate to Santa Cruz, CA.


General Description:

The HDC Administrator supports the HDC department by monitoring the progress and process of materials and components needed for skate hard good purchasing, development and production.  The Administrator works with suppliers concerning packing, consistency and conformity with standards and timelines. Success in this role requires the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.


The job duties fall under the general areas below and may include other duties as assigned:



  • Manage label and hangtag purchasing for key customer orders and facilitate shipments to appropriate vendors
  • Assist purchasing group with raw materials purchases and purchasing reports
  • Report on incoming product shipments, overseas and domestic, and work with various departments manage expectation of delivery dates
  • Oversee consumables purchasing for production, shipping and HDC (supplies and boxes)
  • Handle HDC outbound shipping
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the HDC department


Data Administration:

  • Create and track work orders for in-house skate hard goods production
  • Monitor inventory levels by running purchasing and variance reports and ensure correct buy amounts
  • Assist with seasonal product data entry
  • Reconcile vendor invoices and packing lists with purchase orders in database
  • Study production flow history to monitor and help maintain raw material inventory



  • Process artwork and product specification sheets using Excel and Adobe Illustrator
  • Assist with filing and archiving development samples
  • Unpack, organize and catalog production samples


Required skills and qualifications:

  • 2+ years in purchasing or supply chain planning experience preferred
  • Experience with any business accounting software data entry
  • Type a minimum of 35wpm and be comfortable with 10 key data entry
  • Data administration experience or demonstrated knowledge
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (multiple workbooks, formulas, pivot tables and charting)
  • Base knowledge of Adobe Illustrator (viewing files, printing, size manipulation, cut and paste, saving in multiple file formats)
  • Experience or demonstrated knowledge of .jpeg image manipulation/optimization
  • Genuine interest/passion for the action sports industry
  • Ability to concentrate on detailed projects for extended periods of time
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication




Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 30lbs
  • Must maintain quality of work in fast paced high pressure situations
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work site
  • Must be willing to travel periodically (limited to in-state)
