Apparel - Purchasing Assistant

This position is a key member of the NHS Apparel Development staff, reporting to the Apparel Department Manager, working closely and cooperatively with Softgoods Purchasing, Sales, Production and other members of the NHS team. This is a full-time, in-house position. Must live near or be willing to relocate to Santa Cruz, CA.


Job Duties include but are not limited to:

SKU creation

  • Create Master SKU’s for all seasonal development and Manager approved BOM’s (including seasonal PB’s, MSO’s, straight to OTB, SMU’s, Special Projects, etc.)

Seasonal Prebooks

  • Create PB catalog in PTW
  • Upload PB cover in PTW and Catalog in B2B
  • Order all special ticketing and trims for PB’s

Manage Mid-Season Offering (MSO)

  • Create PB catalog in PTW
  • Run Pre-Book reports and provide copies for review.
  • Order all special ticketing and trims for MSO

Key Account/SMU

  • Order all special ticketing for key accounts

Managing trims inventory: 

  • Send trims to vendors by season/need and review inventory with management
  • Run trims report by season and place orders for trims with vendors
  • Physical inventory counts – Quarterly
  • Upload trims images in PTW

Manage Sales Sample purchases/sample process

  • Maintain PO need date sheet for SMS with developers
  • Organize sample room
  • Create SMS sales groups per brand
  • Create SMS live sheet
  • Create Rep and Distributor SMS order and print pick tickets
  • SMS licensee costings
  • Create pick and pack schedule
  • Help pick/pack sales samples
  • Manage end counts for inventory adjustments and cage transfers
  • Sale Samples logistics: Coordinate with Shipping Dept.



  • Maintain all SKU’s and updates
  • Keep all costs up to date in SKU’s
  • Print and send barcode labels as needed
  • Maintain courier log
  • Run Seasonal PB Comparison reports by brand for Merchandising/Creative
  • Run PB QTY reports by brand/season for Merchandising/Creative
  • Attend weekly purchasing meetings and bi-weekly department meetings



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other word processing applications such as MS Office is a must.
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures
  • Computer processing knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be able to multi-task in a group environment.
  • Must be creative when it comes to solving problems. Be proactive and self-directed.
  • Some college experience is preferred
