Santa Cruz Skateboards is looking for a Swiss army knife type of designer. This is NOT an illustrator position. The ideal candidate has previous experience working in graphic design, has designed in a team setting, is a self-starter with attention to detail and takes direction well.  You’re a self-professed art/graphic design nerd and have a portfolio that shows it. You know the rules of graphic design but aren’t afraid to break them. No job is too big or too small, you’re just down for the cause, and stoked to be making some of the coolest stuff in skateboarding.   


This is an ideal role for a team player looking to expand their design skillset, there’s lots to learn and you’ll learn it from some of the best artists and designers in the industry.  


Position Type: Full Time, In-House, Salary Position 


What You’ll Do:  

This position focuses primarily on supporting the Santa Cruz design team. You will work directly with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Brand Managers and Designers, and will be responsible for the conceptualization and execution of a variety of design projects.  You will be expected to create consistently innovative, on-brand designs that support our brand’s unique identity and creative direction.   


What You Need: 

Able to work 40+ hours/week 

Passion for skateboarding, art and apparel 

Familiarity with NHS brand portfolio (Seriously, at least look it up before you apply.) 

Digital portfolio that demonstrates your design abilities and aesthetic 

2-3 years of experience in design, preferred 

Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent experience 

Advanced knowledge of the principles of graphic design including conceptualization, layout, typography and file preparation for production ready artwork 

Experience with product design (hardgoods and/or apparel) - a plus, but not critical 

Previous experience with catalog/look book design and marketing material design preferred 

Familiarity with screen-printing process and color separations 

Familiarity with pre-press process 

Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign 

Advanced knowledge of post-production techniques including color correction and clipping paths 

Organized, detail-oriented, multi-tasker with strong communication skills 

Able to work independently to prioritize projects and manage workload 

Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet daily and weekly deadlines 

Team player with a great attitude
