Order Picker
Position Overview:
An Order Picker is responsible for reading incoming orders and selecting the correct items from the warehouse shelves before staging them for packaging. Their duties include operating forklifts and other heavy machinery, updating inventory counts and counting out the appropriate number of goods to fulfill an order.
Position Type:
Full Time, In House, Hourly Position near the beach in Santa Cruz, California
Regular Duties:
- Picking out ordered items from storage shelves, racks and/or pallets using an RF handheld, scanning barcodes, serial numbers, etc., and transport items to the shipping line for packing
- Receive and check incoming orders and locate products using technology
- Retrieve orders according to quantity, size to ensure accuracy
- Build pallets with orders and position
- Wrap orders before loading on trucks
- Keep records of completed orders
- Restock inventory manually or with warehouse equipment
- Updating stock inventory after each item is retrieved
- Managing stock control, including item replenishment and storage
- Performing general warehouse duties as necessary
- Operating handling equipment according to industrial safety regulations
Job Requirements:
- Great self-independence and motivation
- Ability to use a radio frequency or barcode scanner
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment for long hours
- Great physical strength and fitness able to lift 50 or more lbs.
- Great team spirit
- In-depth knowledge of industry safety regulations
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Comfortable performing tasks that involve bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, and stretching
- Physically able to manage repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying
- Open to working at heights using ladders or mechanical lifts
- Open to working some overtime and Saturdays
